Commitment to Privacy
The Sage Colleges (“We”, “Sage”) is committed to protecting any personal information that you may provide to us. We recognize that it is critical for individuals and businesses to be confident that their privacy is protected when they visit The Sage Colleges’ website, www.sage.edu. We want you to understand what kinds of information we gather from you, how this information is used and protected, and how you can control its use.

This statement discloses the privacy practices of The Sage Colleges’ website. By using www.sage.edu, the user agrees, without limitation or qualification, to be bound by this Privacy Policy. Any changes in our Privacy Policy will be communicated in this document.

The Sage Colleges does not collect any personal information (as that term is defined under the New York State Internet Security and Privacy Act) about you unless you provide that information voluntarily by sending an e-mail, completing an online form, or completing the online application for admission to The Sage Colleges.

Who May Use This Website
The Sage website is not intended or designed to attract users under the age of 13. We do not collect personally identifiable data from any person we know to be under the age of 13, and instruct users under 13 not to send us any information for collection on the Sage website.

The Sage website is designed for users from the United States. Users from other countries are advised not to disclose personal information to Sage unless they consent to having their information used as set forth in this Privacy Policy rather than under the law of user’s home country. When you disclose personal information to Sage through the Sage website, you transmit data to a server located in New York state, and are subject to United States and New York state law. You should not send any personal information to the Sage website unless you agree to be bound by this Privacy Policy and by United States and New York state law.

Information Collected
In general, you can visit the Sage website without telling us who you are or revealing any information about yourself. When visiting www.sage.edu, our website tracking software, Google Analytics, collects and stores the following information about your visit:

  • the Internet Protocol address of the computer that accessed our website
  • the type of browser, its version and the operating system on which that browser is running
  • the web page from which the user accessed the current Web page
  • the date and time of the user’s request
  • the pages that were visited and the amount of time spent at each page

The above-mentioned information does not constitute personal information as that term is defined by the Internet Privacy and Security Act. Sage uses the information collected to improve the visitors experience and to help Sage understand how users interact with our website. The information is used strictly for statistical analysis.

When you make a request for further information from Sage, submit an application for admission to The Sage Colleges, or register online for a Sage hosted event you are asked to provide certain contact information that is collected and used for the purpose of responding to your request. The information collected from you may include your name, address, telephone number or email address. We may use this information to contact you through various means, including phone calls, e-mail and postal mail about programs and services that we offer. If you e-mail an employee or agent of The Sage Colleges, you are voluntarily releasing your information to us.

Sage does not collect information for commercial marketing purposes and neither Sage nor any of its employees, agents or affiliates are authorized to sell or otherwise disclose the information collected for commercial marketing purposes.

However, pursuant to the Internet Security and Privacy Act, The Sage Colleges may collect or disclose personal information without consent if the collection or disclosure is: (1) necessary to perform the statutory duties of The Sage Colleges, or necessary for The Sage Colleges to operate a program authorized by law, or authorized by federal or state statute or regulation; (2) made pursuant to a court order or by law; (3) for the purpose of validating the identity of the user; or (4) of information to be used solely for statistical purposes that is in a form that cannot be used to identify any particular person.

Further, the disclosure of information, including personal information, collected through www.sage.edu is subject to the provisions of the Freedom of Information Law and the Personal Privacy Protection Law.

Your Choices Regarding Use of Your Personal Information

  • You may always choose not to provide information, even though it may be needed to take advantage of certain features of the Sage website.
  • You may add or update information that you send to us. When you update information, we usually keep a copy of the prior version for our records.

Access to and Correction of Your Personal Information
Any user may submit a request to Sage to determine whether personal information pertaining to that user has been collected through the Sage website. Any such request shall be made in writing and must be accompanied by reasonable proof of identity of the user. Reasonable proof of identity may include verification of a signature, inclusion of an identifier generally known only to the user, or similar appropriate identification. Sage shall, within five (5) business days of the receipt of a proper request, provide access to the personal information; deny access in writing, explaining the reasons therefore; or acknowledge the receipt of the request in writing, stating the approximate date when the request will be granted or denied, which date shall not be more than thirty (30) days from the date of the acknowledgment.

In the event that The Sage Colleges has collected personal information pertaining to a user through the Sage website and that information is to be provided to the user pursuant to the user’s request, Sage shall inform the user of his or her right to request that the personal information be amended or corrected under the procedures set forth in Section 95 of the Public Officers Law.

Cookies
Cookies are small pieces of information that are stored by the user’s browser on the hard drive of your computer. Temporary session cookies are utilized in certain portions of the Sage website.

Outside Links
Our Privacy Policy only applies to the various sage.edu websites. Our websites may contain links to sites outside of Sage’s control. Please be aware that these sites may collect information about you and operate according to their own privacy practices, which may differ from our Privacy Policy. Remember to consult that website’s Privacy Policy, as once you are outside any sage.edu website, any information you submit is no longer within our control.
